Hated it. Struggling to think of something nice to say. Jack Black is Nacho Libre, a friar who moonlights as a wrestler to raise money for an orphanage. It's a comedy that's not funny,with farting noises thrown in to try and make the audience laugh but fails miserably. No matter how bad a movie is, I make myself sit through it till the end. But not this time, I just couldn't do it. Bad writing,bad acting....just BAD!

An American Haunting

I thought that the star power involved (Sissy Spacek,Donald Sutherland) guaranteed this would be a great film. I couldn't have been more wrong. An American Haunting is allegedly based upon the true story of the Bell witch from the 1800's, suppossedly the only documented case of a haunting killing someone. This has been proven untrue,about as believeable as what was said about the Blair witch. Remeber that? This movie is boring and uninteresting,relying on loud noises and music to entice fear. The explanation,or climax, of the film is so ridiculous,and possibly one of the worst films I have seen in a long time.

Slither

Alright, I admit it. I really liked Slither. It is funny,and gross,and throughly enjoyable. Cheesy,with goofy lines. If you like scifi/comedy/horror movies such as Eight Legged Freaks,then you will enjoy this film also. It starts with a meteor falling from the sky,and an idiot named Grant(played by Michael Rooker),poking at it with a stick. This "thing" launches out of it,lodging in his chest. Grant begins to mutate into...something. Slimy,lots of extra teeth,rotting flesh,tentacles-just to name a few of the changes he endures. The townfolks he attacks become zombies,and the battle begins with the few surviving humans. The film takes a while to build up steam,but overall it is definitely worthwhile.

This is a series on Showtime that has recently come out on dvd. Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) is a woman who becomes a widow when her husband suddenly dies from a heart attack. Used to living the "better life" and having 2 sons to raise,she does what any mother would. She starts SELLING WEED ! Ok-most moms wouldn't do that,but it is funny as hell to watch what she goes thru. My favorite character is Celia (Elizabeth Perkins) a bitter,sarcastic,miserably married neighbor. Also starring Kevin Nealon as a CPA, he helps her create a " cover business",and is one of her best customers. Get ready to spark up the laughter with this great series !

The Break Up

Ok,I am aware that most movie critics did not care for this film. Well I really enjoyed it. I think the problem is people looking to the actors' real lives instead of seeing the film for what it truly is, an honest, emotional ride with just enough comedy mixed in. Gary (Vince Vaughn) and Brooke (Jennifer Anniston) are a couple that just can't make their relationship work anymore. The battle of the ex's in on since they both co-own their condo and neither one wants to give it up. True Vince fans will recognize many actors that he has worked with in other films. I think the movie is heartfelt and hilarious,and I highly recommend this one.

The Omen

A remake of the 1976 horror classic, I can't even begin to compare the two. In an effort to modernize the new version,scenes of the 9/11 attacks are used to indicate Armageddon is approaching soon. The parents are also younger. Julia Stiles portrayal of Damien's mother is weak and very bland, but I did enjoy Liev Schrieber's performance as the father. I've liked his work ever since noticing him in the film Scream. Not really scary or creepy,this film relies way too heavily upon foreboding music to entice the audience. Overall-not the worst two hours I've ever spent,but definitely not that great either.

Adam Sandler has been one of my favorites for a long time. In fact, I've never met anyone who didn't enjoy his movie Happy Gilmore. Click is differant from what people generally expect from Adam Sandler. It's a comedy,but also has a good dose of drama. His charcter is a stressed out workaholic who has distanced himself from his family. Christopher Walken gives him what is suppossed to be a universal remote,but Sandler is shocked to find out he can actually control his life with it. Wanting to "speed up the process", he fast fowards through career issues to get ahead, and begins to fast foward through everything in his life he doesn't enjoy such as agruements with his wife. He didn't realize that he couldn't go back,and that sometimes what seems great at the time can be even worse than what you are dealing with. This film had me choked up once reality slaps him in the face and he comes to terms with missing out on his life. I highly recommend this film,as the lesson learned isn't lost in the comedy.

Thank You For Smoking

Sarcasticly funny, this film attacks the moral controversy and political incorrectness surrounding smoking. Its'take on lobbying for personal choice is quick and sharp. Aaron Eckhart is Nick Naylor,a man responsible for putting a positive spin on the negatives associated with the tobacco industry. Sam Elliott portrays the Marlboro Man,who is now dying from lung cancer. Katie Holmes is a corrupt reporter who uses sex appeal to bed Nick Naylor and expose his secrets. Over all, I really enjoyed this film. It is clever and cocky, a great dark satire for adults.

X Men : The Last Stand

This film is enjoyable not just for the incredible special effects,but also the believable storyline. The humans have created a cure for mutants,a chance to live a normal life. The X Men take a stand,defending themselves that being a mutant shouldn't be cured. Magneto uses this conflict to try to rule over the humans,causing an epic battle. Jean Grey returns,controlled by the Dark Phoenix, and is now a threat to all. The Last Stand will grab your attention from the beginning. The action and effects are intense, and the drama truly makes you feel for the characters. Prepare to be shocked over which characters don't survive and the choices made by all.
